Football has returned and we are counting down the days until the regular season begins. Every fan wants to know how their favorite team will perform this season and, here at Fanspeak, we now have a simulator called For The Record, where you can project the record for a team and see what other fans are projecting. Using this record projection simulator, I will be going through every team before the season starts and taking a look at how their season could turn out.
Please note that as I go through all eight divisions, the results of all games aren’t going to match up 100 percent. This is just a general look at each team’s season and a potential result.
New England Patriots: 12-4
Since the lawsuit involving Tom Brady’s four-game suspension is still underway, this prediction was done under the assumption that Brady isn’t on the field for the first four games. A slow start is likely due to the suspension, but once the reigning Super Bowl MVP returns, watch out. New England has constantly been one of the best teams in the NFL and are still the class of the AFC East. The last time the Patriots were involved in a major controversy (Spygate), the team didn’t lose a game until the Super Bowl. Bill Belichick will have this group ready to go.
Miami Dolphins: 9-7
Behind the Patriots, the AFC East is up for grabs and this is shown in these predictions, with only two games separating second place from last place. With the addition of Ndamukong Suh, Miami now boasts one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. Cameron Wake and Suh will wreck havoc on opposing quarterbacks, but the Dolphins’ season rests upon the shoulders of their own quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, who an extension this offseason. I’m a believer of Tannehill, but potential poor offensive line play and the inconsistencies that have plagued this coaching staff could hold them out of the postseason.
Buffalo Bills: 8-8
A favorite sleeper playoff team for many people, the Bills’ season has many potential outcomes and it all depends on what kind of performance they get out of the quarterback position. Outside of quarterback, Buffalo has a playoff-caliber roster. However, none of the Bills’ signal-callers (Matt Cassel, E.J. Manuel and Tyrod Taylor) inspire any confidence. If the team receives decent quarterback play, they have a chance to end the NFL’s longest postseason drought.
New York Jets: 7-9
The 2015 season is going to be a transition year for the Big Apple’s AFC team. A brand new regime is in town and spent big in free agency, meaning the team is going to be competitive and can’t be slept on. Despite this, there just isn’t enough talent on the offensive side of the ball to make the postseason. The quarterback job is Geno Smith’s for now, but Ryan Fitzpatrick very well could finish the season under center. A 7-9 season probably would be considered a success for first-year head coach Todd Bowles and company.
