One of the quieter weeks of transactions this year, nothing major occurred. Teams made lots of minor moves that churned the bottom of their roster, but nothing that is likely to have a significant impact on the outcome of the season. One move is discussed below and, as always, the rest of the moves are down below with some of the more significant ones highlighted in red.

Dallas Cowboys cut and Houston Texans sign QB Brandon Weeden

After starting three games for Dallas as an injury replacement, the Cowboys decided to cut Weeden, who was one of their backup quarterbacks.

He didn’t have to wait long to find a new team and won’t have to travel far, as the Houston Texans claimed off waivers the next day.

With Tony Romo returning from a broken collarbone this week, Dallas felt they no longer needed three quarterbacks and the roster, so they parted ways with the 32-year-old Weeden.

The former first-round draft pick started weeks three, four and five for the Cowboys, but was benched in favor of Matt Cassel when Dallas went into their bye week.

In these three games (and part of a fourth when he replaced the injured Romo against Philadelphia), Weeden completed 72.4 percent of his passes while throwing for 738 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. However, the he most important statistic is that the Cowboys went 0-3 with him under center.

Moving to Houston, he will backup T.J. Yates against the Jets on Sunday. Starter Brian Hoyer suffered a concussion against Cincinnati on Monday Night Football and is unlikely to play against New York.

Since Weeden will be on a short week with a new team, he is only going to receive part of the game plan to learn. Obviously, the Texans will be hoping that he doesn’t have to see the field, as that would put them onto their fourth quarterback of the 2015 season.
